The Homework Club in Gort gets off to a good start.

Galway Rural Development - Saturday, October 29, 2016

Galway Rural Development are delighted to be the lead organisation  in a pilot homework club programme in Gort in collaboration with Gort Resource Centre and Tusla.

Children from Gort National School were welcomed yesterday, October 24th,  by Andrea McCullough, Homework Club Supervisor to the Resource Centre to begin their activities. The Gort Homework Club,  which provides afterschool supports such as literacy, numeracy, arts and crafts,  will run Monday - Thursday from 2.45 pm to 4.15pm in Gort Resource Centre.  Children across a range of classes will attend from  the local National School.

There were were scenes of great excitement upon arrival and the children began their afternoon with a healthy snack and some time to get to know everyone. Children then began to complete some of their homework with support from Andrea and club assistants. The afternoon ended with some fun and games with musical talents on show as well as art and crafts! There were smiles all around and everyone was looking forward to their next visit to the club!!!

Welcome to the Galway Rural Development website. Galway Rural Development, through the programmes we administer, will continue to work along with other agencies, groups and individuals around the county to improve the quality of life for all citizens in our area. We especially wish to work with those who are most in need of assistance, to provide real opportunities for people to gain significant improvements for themselves and their communities throughout rural Galway.
