GRD are currently the lead on the County Galway Integration and Diversity Strategy (2013-2017).  As part of a new initiative, GRD is now inviting applications from suitably qualified organisations/schools, with experience of working with children at risk of early school leaving but particularly those from the Traveller and minority ethnic communities, to access a PILOT Homework Support Programme in County Galway in 2016.  Read more

HSE National Lottery Grants

The HSE has been allocated National Lottery Funding for distribution to community based groups and voluntary organisations under the Respite Care Grant Scheme and the National Lottery Grant Scheme. Groups and organisations involved in the provision of Health and Personal Social Services can apply for once off funding for suitable projects. Read more

Check out our Facebook page for the latest funding opportunities for communities and enterprises. The deadline for Social Entrepreneurs programme is 7th April. Other funding includes IPB Community Engagement Fund which is open for applications until 26th April, the Waterways Ireland grant scheme  has a deadline of  22nd April and the National Transport Authority have launched a grant scheme which can provide up to €10,000 for a registered taxi driver to upgrade their taxi to a wheelchair accessible vehicle. This grant scheme runs until October 2016.  Read more

DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION WITH THE CHARITIES REGULATORY AUTHORITY

1. CHY Charities

Charities that held a Charitable Tax Exemption (CHY number) from the Revenue Commissioners before 16 October, 2014 were automatically deemed as registered with the Charities Regulatory Authority. These charities must complete their information on the Public Register of Charities without delay.

If you were in possession of a CHY number before 16 October, 2014 you should have received a letter from the Charities Regulatory Authority. If you did receive a letter you can commence the process by creating a charity account – Create Account.

If you held a Charitable Tax Exemption (CHY number) before 16 October, 2014 and did not receive any communication from the Charities Regulatory Authority, please submit a query by following this link – Submit Query.

2. Established before 16 October, 2014 – No CHY

If your organisation was in existence before 16 October, 2014 and did not have a Charitable Tax exemption (CHY Number) issued by the Revenue Commissioners, you must make an application for registration to the Charities Regulatory Authority.

The deadline for submitting an application has been extended to 16 April, 2016. Once you have submitted an application for registration to the Charities Regulatory Authority, you can continue to operate while the application is being processed.

3. Established after 16 October, 2014 – New Charities

For organisations that were established after 16 October, 2014 you must be registered with the Charities Regulatory Authority before you can operate as a charity in the state. This group must apply for registration immediately.

Community Tourism Initiative for the Diaspora

In addition to the Local Diaspora Engagement Fund which we published details about previously, applications for funding are now being sought under the Community Tourism Initiative for the Diaspora.  The initiative, launched in 2014, builds on the community involvement legacy of The Gathering 2013 and is a joint partnership between Galway County Council, IPB Insurance and Fáilte Ireland.
