The Minister for Rural Affairs is to address the annual general meeting of Ballinasloe Area Community Development this week (16/4).
Minister Ann Phelan will be speaking on the new 250 million euro rural fund programme announced last month.
The initiative aims to tackle rural isolation and is currently accepting submissions from community groups to decide how funding will be allocated.
A large number of local businesses will attend the AGM, which is open to all of Ballinasloe and the surrounding hinterland.
The meeting will take place on Thursday at the Ballinasloe Enterprise Centre at 8pm.
Lyn Donnelly of the Enterprise Centre says they’re hoping the Minister will help steer Ballinasloe in a postive direction.
