Infinity project for Culture Night

Galway Rural Development - Tuesday, September 15, 2015

We Are Directly/Indirectly Responsible for the Fact That 50 Million People are Forced to Migrate from their Home Country Each Year.

So say the Giddy Biddy Collective who are presenting Infinity  - a social awareness installation project which is taking place on 18th & 19th September as part of Galway City Culture Night. This is to raise awareness of Forced Migration issues within Europe.  A full size 20 foot shipping container will be placed in  Mainguard Street, Galway for a 24 hour period. Eight volunteers will be locked inside the container with only water to drink and a portable loo for waste, simulating the conditions experienced by the victims of forced migration.

The installation is designed to provoke the viewer to stand up and acknowledge their part in the infinite link that perpetuates Forced Migration.

Welcome to the Galway Rural Development website. Galway Rural Development, through the programmes we administer, will continue to work along with other agencies, groups and individuals around the county to improve the quality of life for all citizens in our area. We especially wish to work with those who are most in need of assistance, to provide real opportunities for people to gain significant improvements for themselves and their communities throughout rural Galway.
