Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board and Galway Rural Development are joining forces to put on a series of information events this May. These roadshows under the heading "Make the Link" will be held in Gort, Tuam, Ballinasloe and Kilkerrin in Connemara and follow on from the successful Learning for Life Events that took place in 2017.

“Make the Link” will showcase job opportunities, apprenticeships as well as free courses and training provided by GRETB (formerly VEC), Galway Rural Development, Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection, Equal Ireland, Athlone Institute of Technology, NUI Galway, GMIT and other colleges throughout the county. Local employers with jobs in hospitality and homecare will also be on hand.
Members of the public are welcome to these free events and we encourage people to attend who are currently at home or not in the work force. There may well be a course that interests you, gets you back into education and training and potentially into employment.
The roadshows run from 10am to 1pm and start off on Tuesday 22nd May in The Ard Rí Hotel, Tuam , then on Wednesday 23rd May in Kilkerrin Community Hall in Connemara. The following week “Make the Link” will be in Gort at the Lady Gregory Hotel on Tuesday 29th May and at the Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe on Wednesday 30th May. Fáilte roimh chách – All are welcome. Saor in aisce – free of charge
For people who are keen to get back to work, there are lots of courses and advice which can bring you right up to date in IT, computers, construction, customer service, healthcare and accounts. Help and advice will be available to encourage you to make the most of your abilities and time so that you could start a course which could develop into a new interest or job opportunity. Representatives of the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection will also be present to provide advice on your current entitlement to return to education and other supports and benefits.
The “Make the Link” series is part of the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) and Galway Rural Development Company are delivering this programme in County Galway.
“ Over the last number of years Galway Rural Development (GRD) has brought these Information Events to all parts of the County and this year we are delighted to be travelling to Gort for the first time as well as returning to Tuam, Ballinasloe and Connemara. This is a great opportunity to meet education and training agencies and local employers all under one roof and get useful information and advice” said Freeda Garman, Adult Education Officer with GRD.
People are welcome to arrange to meet GRD’s Adult Education Officers Freeda or Clara for a free and confidential advisory session to help make a plan for the future - feel free to telephone 091 844335 or email email@example.com
