Training
Galway Rural Development provides support to communities and individuals through skills and knowledge.
Under the various funding programmes we support a wide variety of training and development initiatives. The provision of training and access to knowledge and skills will benefit those seeking to re-enter the labour market and will also provide an opportunity for social and economic enhancement.
The Rural Development Programme can support training for eligible individuals, groups, communities and enterprises under a number of areas including food, tourism, energy and the environment and business start-up.
Under the Local Community Development Programme, we work alongside other agencies to provide support and training initiatives in the community, specifically targeting the long-term unemployed, marginalized groups and early school leaving.
The Community Employment Scheme is funded by FÁS and aims to help the long term unemployed return to work. The participants are offered work experience and job related training in such areas as maintenance, social care projects and clerical/administrative roles. Each participant receives any relevant training pertaining to the job specifications. Galway Rural Development currently employs 16 participants and 1 supervisor.
