Rural Development Programme (LEADER) 2007 - 2013

The aim of the Rural Development Programme (LEADER) 2007 – 2013 is to improve the quality of life of the people and to diversify the rural economy of Galway. The measures supported under the programme are listed below and information on each measure and examples of past projects can be obtained by clicking on the link.

All Measures with the exception of Training and Information may be complemented by the availability of Analysis and Development grant aid support.

GRD delivers the Rural Development Programme, which applies to community organisations and private project promoters, on behalf of the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries & Food.

The Rural Development Programme forms part of the Regional Operational Programmes under the National Development Plan 2007 -2013, with funding from the Rural Development Programme Ireland 2007- 2013, Axis 3 and Axis 4: Quality of Life in Rural Areas and Diversification of the Rural Economy.

The Programme is designed to improve the quality of life in rural areas for all rural dwellers, including farmers encourage diversification of economic activity through the development of rural enterprises, tourism, village enhancement and environmental initiatives.
