North East Galway Rural Transport Programme

Galway Rural Development Company Ltd. has secured funding from the Department of Transport for the provision of transport services in the NE Galway area. Through Galway Rural Development the North East Galway Rural Transport Programme was established to cater for the transport needs of the people living in North East Galway that are affected by lack of adequate transport in their areas. Our targets are the people suffering from lack of social inclusion in areas that are outside the normal services provided by other national providers ie Bus Eireann. Our aim is to provide a link to existing services where possible in line with practical demand.

This programme will complement the two existing rural transport schemes provided in the South and East of Galway by SE Galway IRD (The Local Bus) and in the West of Galway by Bealach. We aim to work closely with these to ensure a smooth and cooperative transport service throughout the county of Galway.

Geographically we cover rural communities from Headford in the West to Williamstown / Ballymoe in the North to Ballygar in the East, covering all areas in between including Tuam, Glenamaddy, Moylough and Mountbellew.
