Community Employment Scheme

The Community Employment Scheme has been operating as a community employment scheme for a number of years, initally as a partnership between Galway Rural Development, FÁS and the Health Service Executive. Participants utilised referrals from the Health Service Executive and provided practical help in upgrading peoples houses.

In the last two years the Alzeimer’s Society have become project partners and now a number of participants on the scheme are trained to provide respite care for people who are caring for a relative suffering from Alzeimer’s., other participants are involved in maintenance work for communities in the East Galway area and in clerical and administrative support.
