Farmers

There are a number of supports provided to Farmers in Co Galway and they are outlined as follows:

Rural Social Scheme

The Rural Social Scheme is an option available to Farmers (and their spouse) who have a herd number who are unable to remain self-sufficient on a farming income.  The scheme offers part time flexible employment opportunties for low income farmers.  Those participating on the scheme must work 19.5 hrs per week in site locations convenient to them.

 

Rural Development Programme

One of the areas supported under this programme is farm enterprise and diversification.  Eligible clients can benefit from support in terms of training, capital support for construction costs and the purchase of fixed equipment and machinery.  They also benefit from advice and guidance from our trained enterprise staff.
