Tuam

Tuam lies 21 miles (32 km) to the north of Galway City and is a major town in the North Galway/mid-Connacht region. It is a thriving industrial and commercial town with a well established agricultural hinterland.

There is much evidence of history of Christianity in the cathedrals and monastic settlements around the town. These include St. Mary's Cathedral with its renowned 12th Century Chancel Arch and the famous High Cross, St. Jarlath's school and monastery established in the 6th Century and Cathedral of the Assumption, built in the 19th Century.
