Mullagh
Mullagh is a rural parish situated approximately 8 miles south east of Loughrea, 15 miles from Ballinasloe and 15 miles from Portumna. Mullagh is made up of two half-parishes, Abbeygormican and Killoran.
Mullagh has some interesting historical features, such as the Bishop's Chair, marking the spot where the Bishop's of Clonfert ordained priests during the penal times, a mass rock also used during the penal times, and graveyards at Abbeygormican and Finnure.
The local community have carried out substantial works to improve the village over the years. In 1981, a community centre was built in the parish and in the same year improvements were made to the hurling field, and a new parochial house was built in 1984 by an all local team of contractors. In 1991, the church was renovated, with local craftsmen re-designing the windows.
