Creggs / Kilbegnet

Nine miles from Roscommon, and bordered on the East by the River Suck. Part of the Suck Valley waymarked walk passes through the parish. There are a number of Lakes, Lough Oliver known as Moat Lake on the Creggs to Glenamaddy Road. Lough Gormly, Lough An Airgid and Peters Lough in Rosmoylan Bog, and Peters Lough in Donamon.

Nearby is the Athleague Angling Visitor Centre and Ballinapark has 36 fishing stands for people with disabilities.

Donamon Castle dates from the 12th century and is the home of the Divine Word missionaries.

The pub in Creggs was the scene of the last public speech of Charles Stuart Parnell and in 1946 a monument to him was erected. The CS Parnell Heritage Centre in the village hosts a range of activities and is the home of the Kilbegnet Historical Society.
