Ballindereen

The village of Ballindereen is situated in South East Galway and is bordered by the parishes of Kinvara and Clarinbridge. It is 14 miles from Galway City and 6 miles from the Co. Clare border. The parish is bounded to the west by the sea and to the north by the Kilcolgan River.

The village grew up in the centre of the parish around a small oak wood, hence the name Baile an Doir. Places of historical interest in the area include Tyrone House, St. Sourney's Well, Toreen Cross and Kilternan Church. There are beautiful beaches within easy reach, in addition to golf, fishing, nature walks, sailing and Irish music and set dancing at weekends.
