Biodiversity and Traditional Skills Events

Biodiversity Week - Garden Day : Sunday 29th May, 10am to 4pm, at Eve's Orchard, Caher Rice, Feakle, Co.Clare - contact Kes Clarke   086-0571971.  It is free but a contribution of 5 euro is requested towards a lunch of fresh garden produce.  Participants will learn about development of a woodland garden and orchard as part of a small-holding and will under-plant trees with various shrubs, herbs and wildflowers - all designed to enhance and encourage biodiversity through attraction of pollinating and predatory insects.

Plant Magic : Managing a small-holding with emphasis on biodiversity - 8 days through summer / autumn at Eve's Orchard, Caher Rice, Feakle, Co.Clare.  €40 per day (LEADER-subsidised).  Next:  Saturday 11th June

 

CELT Summer in the Woods Traditional Skills training - 2nd / 3rd July

Intermediate level :  Wood Carving, Wet Felting, Greenwood Crafts, Spinning & Weaving, Nuno Felting.  An opportunity for those who have learned the basics to improve their skills.

Also :  Family Bushcraft (basic outdoor skills for parent and child working together).

Cost :  80 euro (LEADER  subsidised).

 

NATURAL BUILDING - 11th / 12th June and 25th / 26th June - intermediate level with Saul Mosbacher at Feakle, Co.Clare.

Cost : 80 euro per weekend (LEADER subsidised)

Includes dry-stone construction, cob and cordwood, wattle and daub, basic timber-frame.

 

BOAT BUILDING - 5 weekends at Bealkelly Wood, Tuamgraney, Co.Clare.  14 / 15 May; 21 / 22 May; 28 / 29 May; 4 / 5 June; 11 / 12 June.

Cost :  60 euro per weekend (LEADER subsidised).  Basic carpentry skills required.

 

All participants are required to hold annual membership of CELT (15 euro / 25 euro family).

Bring own food - some food and refreshments available on site and cooking fire.

Free camping at Bealkelly Wood for 2 / 3 July (arrive Friday 1st if you wish).
